Nikiana Lefkas Map And Beach Guide

The small and pretty fishing village of Nikiana is located on the east coast of Lefkas and around nine kilometres from the capital Lefkas Town and just to the south of the resort port at Lygia.

A few tavernas, bars and cafes line the main street that runs right through the centre of the village and there are more tavernas and cafes to be found lining the quayside around the pretty harbour.

There are a couple of reasonably good sand and pebble beaches nearby and, although relatively small, both are quiet throughout most of the holiday season.

The water on both beaches is shallow and there are groups of rocks both on the beach and out to sea that add interest to the beaches.

The biggest crowds will be found during the high summer months of July and August, especially on the biggest and the best beach which is located near the quayside and where a beachfront taverna provides basic refreshments.

This is good walking country with olive orchards carpeting the hills that rise above Nikiana with tracks leading up to the more mountainous peaks behind.

Walkers will find many paths and donkey trails in the hills and some excellent views of the Lefkas coast.

There is a regular bus service between Nikiana and Lefkas Town and the bus stop can be found outside the village centre bakery.
