Agios Ermogenis Lesvos Map And Beach Guide

The beach at Agios Ermogenis is located at the head of the bay of Gera, which lies just to the south of the Lesvos island capital town of Mytilini.

Agios Ermogenis is actually two small, south-east facing beaches divided by a large rock outcrop, with the church sitting on the main road above that gives the beach its name.

Behind the resort is a range of pine-covered hills and large pine forests dominate the area to the north around the Kratigos area. The pines run right down to the sea at Agios Ermogenis, notably at the western end of the beach.

It is here that the road peters out and a dirt track doubles back through the pine woods and leads to a gravel car park area just behind Agios Ermogenis beach.

Some rate Agios Ermogenis as one of the best beaches on Lesvos island but, because it is relatively small, it can get pretty crowded in the high summer and particularly at weekends.

The beach here is of steeply shelving sharp sand so children will have to be watched and there is a small jetty for boats to tie up. There is a well-recommended fish taverna and a beach cantina that usually opens in the summer.

The alternative beach for Agios Ermogenis is at the eastern end, beyond the headland, and it can also be reached down a dirt track off the main road with a small car park at the bottom of the hill.
