Kanapitsa Skiathos Map And Beach Guide

Kanapitsa is a scenic beach, a little off the beaten track, down a 2km road south of the No 12 bus stop on the main Skiathos coast road south of Tzanaries (Nostos).

Unlike many beaches on Skiathos island, Kanapitsa rarely gets crowded. Another advantage is that it often catches the north-east breeze and this can make Kanapitsa seem much fresher in the high summer months.

Kanapitsa is a long and narrow stretch of fine sand backed by reeds and scrub. There are tourist facilities here such as a taverna, beach bar, watersports and sunbeds as well as beach volleyball and even a tennis court nearby.

The east-facing Kanapitsa beach is best enjoyed in the morning and a small jetty offers moorings in the centre of the beach while a rocky outcrop to the north add interest.

Kanapitsa is ideally placed for those who enjoy walking. Trails head off over the Kalamaki headland along waymarked paths that criss-cross the Kalamaki peninsula through pine woods and olive groves.

On the opposite side of the peninsula is the small beach of Koutsouri, again rarely busy, where a beach cantina that opens in the summer. Other small coastal coves can be found right around the shoreline.

At Koutsouri is the tiny beach of Delfinki reachable down a very steep bank but most arrive here by boat. The western side of the peninsula tends to be hotter as it is sheltered from the north-east wind.
