The small and attractive east-facing beach at Tzaneria is dominated by the Nostos Hotel complex that sits on the bluff above and is sometimes even referred to as Nostos beach.
The beach is located on the south coast at the head of the Kalamaki peninsula, just to the west of the beach resort at Achladies, and about seven kilometres from Skiathos Town.
Set between two large rocky outcrops Tzaneria has a large area of flat fields immediately behind the beach that run up to the main south coast road and to island bus stop number 12.
The deep crescent bay at Tzaneria is dominated by the large Nostos hotel complex which has apartments all over the hillside. The accommodation is mostly timeshare and is very popular with visitors from the USA.
Tzaneria beach itself is a gentle arc of good flat sand but it quickly gets quite deep at the shoreline so children must be watched. There is a small jetty for boats to tie up.
Nostos hotel staff regularly rake the beach clean and there are plenty of sunbeds on offer along the shoreline.
Tzaneria has a good fish taverna located at the back of the sands that provides filling lunchtime snacks and decent evening meals. There are more tavernas nearby.
There are watersports on Tzaneria beach with the Dolphin Diving Centre based here and there are frequent taxi boats to Skiathos Town and other beaches along the coast.
