The pretty beach at Porto Roma is located in the south-east of Zante on the Vassilikos peninsula.
The tiny sand and pebble beach lies just over the headland from Gerakas, on the east coast of the long Geraki peninsula, about 18km from Zakynthos Town.
Many beaches on this part of the island are considered off the beaten track but Porto Roma is more 'hidden' than most and often missed by visitors on the way to the long beach at Gerakas.
Porto Roma has few visitors but the quiet, picturesque beach with its small fishing port has several summer tavernas, cafes and some small shops.
There are no large hotels in this part of Vassilikos, just a scattering of high-end villas and high-quality apartments, giving the beach an exclusive reputation.
Its remote position means there are few crowds here and it is not unusual to see only a few people on Porto Roma beach all day.
Families with younger children will find the water shallow and calm and there are plenty of sunbeds on the north facing sands.
Walkers will find many good trails in the Vassilikos area with waymarked paths through pine forests and olive groves and the popular beach at Gerakas just a few minutes walk away on the other side of the peninsula.
